Consultant on environmental information, mentor and university lecturer in science journalism. Editor-in-Chief of Al Hima Magazine since 2022, describing it as “a gift to Arab environmentalists, delivering SPNL’s mission to preserve nature by establishing a Hima, i.e. a protected area, in every village and town in every Arab country.”
Editor and co-author of several environmental books, reports and manuals, including AFED’s Environmental Guidebook for Arab Schools. Executive editor of Al-Bia Wal-Tanmia (Environment and Development magazine), 1996-2017. Regional coordinator of the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ) mentoring program for Arab environmental journalists.
In 2009, Raghida Haddad was awarded the Earth Journalism Award during the UN climate change summit in Copenhagen, for her journey to the Arctic, covering the international scientific expedition onboard the Canadian research icebreaker Amundsen. She was the first Arab journalist to navigate for two weeks in the Arctic Ocean, getting first-hand experience on global warming where it is unfolding the fastest, and relaying this experience to readers throughout the Arab region.
